Our paleomagnetic projects in Southeast Asia include case histories from Thailand, Malaysia, Brunei, The Philippines, and Indonesia where Applied Paleomagnetics provided paleomagnetic services to petroleum and geotechnical companies since 1986. Our paleomagnetic projects in SE Asia include extensive use of our paleomagnetic core orientation service to determine natural fracture, bedding, and in situ stress orientations in cores from oil and gas fields. Our SE Asia paleomagnetic projects in the Gulf of Thailand, South China Sea were focused on paleomagnetic core orientation of Miocene sandstones in Platong and Cakerawala fields and on paleomagnetic core orientation of basement granite in Ubon field, where we also measured magnetic susceptibility. Our SE Asia paleomagnetic projects in Malaysia involved paleomagnetic core orientation of Miocene deltaic sandstones in the D-35 and Bayan fields, offshore Sarawak. Our SE Asia paleomagnetic projects offshore Brunei involved paleomagnetic core orientation of Miocene sandstones from Champion field. Our SE Asia paleomagnetic projects in the Philippines focused on paleomagnetic orientation of cores from the Tiwi Geothermal Field; our paleomagnetic core orientation technique performed flawlessly even at reservoir temperatures of 265°C. Our SE Asia paleomagnetic projects in Indonesia involved magnetostratigraphic dating of hominid fossil-bearing sediments from Java.
